Job Title: Video & Data Analytics Coach, Catalyst Performance Ski Racing
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Video & Data Analytics Coach to join our coaching staff. This is not just a role for a videographer; we are seeking a seasoned ski racing professional who resides at the intersection of coaching, technology, and performance science. As a key member of the Catalyst Performance Camp Program, you will be responsible for capturing high-quality video of our athletes and, more importantly, transforming that footage and other performance data into actionable insights.
The ideal candidate will have over a decade of experience coaching ski racers of all ages, a deep understanding of high-performance athletic pathways, and a passion for leveraging technology to unlock potential. You will be the technical backbone of our coaching team, managing the flow of data from the hill to our analytics platforms, and providing our coaches and athletes with the critical information they need to make tactical adjustments and achieve peak performance.
Core Responsibilities
- Video Acquisition & Analysis:
- Capture high-quality, technically sound video of athletes during training sessions and competitions using a variety of camera technologies.
- Lead video analysis sessions with athletes and coaches, utilizing advanced software like Dartfish to provide immediate, detailed feedback on technique and tactics.
- Integrate and synchronize video with timing and GPS data from systems like Protern to create a comprehensive, multi-layered view of each run.
- Data Management & Integration:
- Develop and manage a robust data pipeline for all athlete performance metrics.
- Expertly handle data outputs (e.g., CSV files from Protern, timing systems) and populate SQL databases that will serve as the central data lake for our program.
- Maintain a meticulously organized digital asset management system for all video files within SharePoint, ensuring all content is properly tagged, identifiable, and easily accessible.
- Leverage cloud-based technologies for efficient storage, sharing, and collaboration on video and data assets across the coaching team.
- Performance Analytics & Reporting:
- Utilize Power BI to connect to the SQL data lake and create compelling, intuitive analytics dashboards and reports for coaches, athletes, and parents.
- Analyze performance data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement in athlete tactics, technique, and consistency.
- Develop and maintain individual Athlete Performance Sheets, providing a holistic 12-month view of progress by integrating:
- On-snow training data and video analysis notes.
- Race results and performance metrics.
- Strength & Conditioning data and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Nutritional logs and compliance data.
- Coaching & Program Integration:
- Act as a key member of the high-performance coaching team, using your coaching background to ensure all technical analysis is grounded in sound pedagogical and tactical principles.
- Collaborate with Head Coach, S&C staff, and other support personnel to ensure a holistic and aligned approach to athlete development.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the Catalyst Performance Camp’s 12-month athlete development curriculum.
Qualifications & Experience
- Coaching Pedigree:
- Minimum 10 years of active ski racing coaching experience with a proven track record of developing athletes across various age groups.
- Certified CSCF Development Level (DL) Trained (Certified preferred).
- Certified CSIA Level 2 (or higher).
- Experience coaching at the FIS, U16, or U14 high-performance level is a significant asset.
- Technical Expertise:
- Expert-level proficiency with Dartfish video analysis software.
- Demonstrated experience with Protern or similar GPS/timing data systems.
- Strong proficiency in managing and transforming data from CSV files.
- Experience with SQL databases (querying, populating, and managing).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Power BI for creating data visualizations and dashboards.
- Proficient in using SharePoint for cloud-based file management and organization.
- A firm grasp of cloud computing principles and data warehousing.

Important Note: This is a Contract Role
Please note that this is a contract role to start, designed explicitly for our high-performance camps, and is not a full-time position. The role will gradually develop into a full-time position as we mature the North American Camp Program. We are seeking a highly committed individual for these specialized camp projects.
