Job Profile: Dryland Strength and Conditioning Coach
Position Overview:
Catalyst Sport Sciences is seeking a dynamic and experienced Dryland Strength and Conditioning Coach to join our world-class team. This individual will be responsible for designing, implementing, and leading all strength and conditioning programs for our elite winter sport athletes. The successful candidate will work closely with our High-Performance Director, sport coaches, and integrated support team to deliver a comprehensive and impactful dryland training program. This role is integral to our mission of developing World Class athletes and requires a deep understanding of the physical demands of high-performance sport.
In addition to coaching responsibilities, this position will play a key role in our sports science communication and program growth. The Dryland Strength and Conditioning Coach will be a regular contributor to our monthly Blog Posts on the Catalyst Sport Sciences website and will actively engage in promoting and driving participation in our High-Performance Camps across North America and Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Design and Implementation:
- Develop and execute comprehensive, individualized, and periodized strength and conditioning programs for our athletes, with a primary focus on winter sports.
- Conduct thorough needs analyses for individual athletes and sport-specific demands to inform program design.
- Lead and supervise all dryland training sessions, ensuring proper technique, safety, and a motivational training environment.
- Integrate cutting-edge training methodologies and technologies to optimize athletic performance.
- Collaborate with sport coaches to ensure seamless integration of dryland training with on-snow and sport-specific training plans.
- Athlete Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Implement and manage a robust athlete monitoring system to track progress, fatigue, and readiness to train.
- Conduct regular performance testing and evaluations to assess the effectiveness of training programs and make data-informed adjustments.
- Provide regular feedback to athletes and the high-performance team on individual and group progress.
- Content Creation and Program Promotion:
- Author engaging and informative monthly Blog Posts for the Catalyst Sport Sciences website on topics related to strength and conditioning, athletic development, and sport science.
- Assist in creating promotional materials for our High-Performance Camps.
- Act as an ambassador for Catalyst Sport Sciences, actively driving participation in our programs and camps within the North American and European athletic communities.
- Present on strength and conditioning topics at camps, clinics, and other events as required.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work in close collaboration with the High-Performance Director, sport coaches, physiotherapists, and other members of the integrated support team.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with athletes regarding their training programs and progress.
- Foster a positive and high-performance culture within the training environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimal Levels of Required Education and Certification:
- Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance (CSIA): Level 2 Certification
- Canadian Ski Coaches Federation (CSCF): Dryland (DL) Certified Canadian Ski Coach Certification
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or a related field.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience coaching strength and conditioning to high-performance athletes.
- A strong understanding of the demands of FIS-level ski racing, with personal racing experience at the FIS level or higher being a significant asset.
- Proven experience working with FIS-level athletes and a deep understanding of their developmental pathways.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex scientific principles to a variety of audiences.
- A passion for continuous learning and professional development in the field of sport science and strength and conditioning.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally for training camps and competitions.
- Additional certifications from recognized organizations such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA – CSCS) or the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP – CEP) are highly desirable.

Please note that this is a contract role to start, designed explicitly for our high-performance camps, and is not a full-time position. The role will gradually develop into a full-time position as we mature the North American Camp Program. We are seeking a highly committed individual for these specialized camp projects.
