Masters Winter Programs – 9 Week Friday Training and Racing Development

service image

Ideal for Masters athletes looking for a higher performance training environment with a focus on further skill development in gates, and technical free skiing.

This program focuses on performance and moderate Intensity. Skill refinement and preliminary speed training are the key elements throughout the nine-week program. A third of the training time during the nine-week program is spent on Technical Free skiing skill refinement, with the balance spent in gates to work on Tactical development and refinement. Key Concepts will focus on the following:

TRAIN to TRAIN - Build the Masters Ski Racer

Masters Ski Racers in the Train to Train stage are focused on transferring fundamental technique and basic tactical skills into the competitive environment. From start to finish, they are introduced to various critical race elements, including movement over terrain and gliding. Ski racers begin formalized speed and ski training progressions to develop their skill sets in these areas.

TRAIN to RACE - Build the Masters Ski Racer & Optimize the engine

In the Train to Race stage, Masters skiers refine their technique and tactics through training and competition in various events. At the Masters Level, these include super G, giant slalom, slalom, and super combined.

At the beginning of this stage, Masters ski racers are starting to compete in local, regional, and national-level races. As their competition skills develop and become more refined, near the end of this stage, Masters ski racers seek to be competitive internationally in FIS Masters Cup racing through North America, South America, and Europe, which will promote their formal entrance to Canadian Masters national team status.

Training programs at this stage are individualized, and athletes will begin to specialize in their strongest discipline towards the end of the stage.
